UTi loses contract to XPO in Wisconsin

Sealed Air Corp. chose XPO Logistics to manage its warehouse in Sturtevant, Wis. effective Jan. 16, 2017, with UTi Integrated Logistics ceasing operations at the facility Jan. 15.    UTi Integrated Logistics will lay off 200 of its employees at Sealed Air Corp.’s warehouse in Sturtevant, Wis. on Jan. 15, 2017.
   UTi Human Resources Implementation Manager Julie House said that UTi has operated the Sealed Air plant for about 10 years, Milwaukee’s BizTimes reported.
   Sealed Air switched to third-party logistics provider XPO Logistics to operate the facility, which will take over Jan. 16. UTi expects XPO may rehire some or all of the warehouse employees when it takes over, and will begin interviewing UTi employees in October and November, House said.
   After struggling to earn a profit in recent years, UTi was acquired in January 2016 by Denmark-based DSV for $1.35 billion.
