GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, CSCL, MOL and Hyundai

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, CSCL, MOL and Hyundai issued general rate increases.    Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, CSCL, MOL and Hyundai announced general rate increases in the past week.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore and Malaysia to Australia effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU, $400 per 40-foot container (FEU) and $400 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
   The Danish carrier will also increase rates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Buenaventura, Colombia effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU, $1,500 per FEU and $1,500 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
   In addition, Maersk Line will raise rates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU, $1,000 per FEU and $1,000 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports on all cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU. This increase is in addition to the $100 per TEU it implemented for this trade Aug. 22.
   The French carrier will also increase rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Hodeidah, Yemen effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   CSCL will increase rates from Asia to North Europe effective Sept. 1 by $1,000 per TEU.
   MOL will increase rates from Asia (including Indian Sub-Continent/Middle East) to South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe effective Sept 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
   Hyundai will increase rates from Asia to North Europe and Asia to the Mediterranean effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU and $2,000 per FEU.
   COSCO’s general rate increase from Asia to North Europe for $1,000 per TEU, which was revealed earlier in the month and originally supposed to take effect Aug. 27, has been pushed back until Sept. 1.
