Horizon Lines receives first 2,824-TEU ship from Hyundai Mipo    U.S. Jones Act carrier Horizon Lines Friday received the first in a series of five U.S.-flag 2,824-TEU vessels, 'Horizon Hunter,' from the Hyundai Mipo shipyard in South Korea.
   Ship Finance International is buying the vessels and will bareboat charter them to Horizon Lines, which will deploy all five vessels on its TP1 service linking the U.S. West Coast to Guam and Asia.
   Horizon Lines only serves the U.S./Guam trade on the TP1 and then turns over the remaining capacity to Danish carrier Maersk Line, which loads the vessels eastbound.
   'The deployment of these five new vessels will not only provide additional space and faster transit time between the U.S. West Coast, Guam and Asia, but will also result in the redeployment of our larger and younger U.S.-built ships into two of our three fully qualified Jones Act markets, Hawaii and Puerto Rico,' said John V. Keenan, Horizon Lines' senior vice president and chief transportation officer.
   The remaining ships will be delivered to Horizon Lines by the spring.
