Japan Airlines announces major management reshuffle

Japan Airlines announces major management reshuffle Passenger and cargo carrier Japan Airlines has launched a major management reshuffle, with the announcement Wednesday of more than two-dozen changes to key corporate positions.
   The Tokyo-based carrier, operator of the largest Boeing 747 fleet in the world, announced the retirement of 14 board and executive officers and the appointment of 15 executive officers, effective March 31. The number of full-time board members will also go from 15 to 13.
   Haruka Nishimatsu remains as president and chief executive officer of the JAL Corp. and JAL International. Toshiyuki Shinmachi stays as chairman of both companies. Katsuhiko Nawano will be promoted to executive vice president of JAL Corp. and JAL International. In his new post, he will act as deputy to Nishimatsu.
   Among the new executive officers is Takao Fukuchi, who will become senior vice president, cargo and mail.
