Maersk yard delivers 7,000-TEU ship, group nears 2 million-TEU mark A.P. Moller – Maersk Group's Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark on Saturday delivered a 7,000-TEU containership for use by Maersk Line, the ship which may well see the group's operated fleet pass the pass 2 million-TEU milestone.
   The Marchen Maersk is the second in a series of six containerships being built by the yard.
   Latest figures from French research firm AXS-Alphaliner list the Danish group's (Maersk Line, Safmarine, APM Saigon Shipping-MCC and Mercosul Line) fleet at just 4,007 TEUs shy of 2 million TEUs, making it easily the world's largest container shipping group. AXS also show that the group has another 74 ships aggregating about 342,000 TEUs on order.
   AXS-Alphaliner's top five ocean carriers in terms of vessel fleet capacity as of May 13 are:
   1. A.P. Moller – Maersk, 549 ships at 1.99 million TEUs, 16.3 percent market share.
   2. Mediterranean Shipping Co., 391 ships at 1.28 million TEUs, 10.5 percent.
   3. CMA CGM Group, 386 ships at 924,590 TEUs, 7.5 percent.
   4. Evergreen Line, 179 ships at 628,403 TEUs, 5.1 percent.
   5. Hapag-Lloyd, 140 ships at 507,419 TEUs, 4.1 percent.
