CERNAK NAMED DIRECTOR OF PORT OF GALVESTON

CERNAK NAMED DIRECTOR OF PORT OF GALVESTON    Steven M. Cernak has been appointed port director of the Port of Galveston.
   Cernak, who has been acting port director, was deputy port director for finance, administration and facilities, managing the engineering and maintenance departments of the port, and overseeing the functions of the finance and administration departments.
   He said his top priorities will be expanding the port's cargo mix and developing its cruise business.
   “Our traditional cargoes of grain, bananas, sugar and construction and farm equipment remain strong,” he said. “Marketing efforts continue to diversify the port's traditional cargo mix with efforts centered on forest products and project cargoes.”
   Port capital projects will focus on security, cruise terminal enhancements and several dock and railroad construction projects, he said.
