BIS extends industry comment period for CCL review to Nov. 1 The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security announced in a Federal Register notice Thursday that it would extend the industry comment period for its Commerce Control List review to Nov. 1.
   BIS originally set the comment deadline at Sept. 17. However, the Export Controls Working Group, which includes the Coalition for Employment Through Exports, National Foreign Trade Council, and Industry Coalition on Technology Transfer, asked BIS for the extension.
   The CCL covers a broad range of U.S.-made technologies, software and commodities, which may have both commercial and military applications. These items are enumerated by the agency's Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
   Changes are regularly made to the CCL to reflect revisions in the control lists of multilateral export control regimes, such as the Wassenaar Arrangement, Missile Technology Group Regime, Australia Group, and Nuclear Suppliers' Group.
