Carriers to start second Asia/East Coast South America link    NYK Line, Hamburg S'd and its subsidiary Alian'a from June are adding a second joint Asia/East Coast South America service to complement their existing Asia/South Africa/East Coast of South America “New Good Hope Express” service.
   Initially, the additional second string of the “NGX” service will be run on a fortnightly basis, with full implementation of the two-string operation on a weekly fixed-day basis beginning mid-August.
   The “NGX String 1” will be run by 10 vessels of about 2,500 TEUs and will call Nagoya, Yokohama, Busan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Durban, Santos, Itajai, Paranagua, Santos, Singapore, Hong Kong and Nagoya.
   The “NGX String 2” will deploy 10 ship of approximately 1,700 TEUs calling Shanghai, Ningbo, Keelung, Yantian, Laem Chabang, Singapore, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Santos, Sepitiba, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai.
   Once the new service has switched to a fixed-day-weekly pattern, nearly 90,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity will be added to the Asia/East Coast South America trade.
