EVERGREEN CONSIDERS MOVE INTO CRUISE SHIPPING

   The Taiwanese group Evergreen confirmed that it is considering setting
up cruise shipping activities.
   A London-based spokesman for Evergreen said that the Evergreen group is establishing a team of 15 to 20 people to carry out research into the
cruise shipping plan. The study is expected to be completed in about 18
months.
   The cruise shipping plan involves the Evergreen group parent company,
rather than Evergreen Marine Corp., the listed Taiwanese arm of the group.
   The Evergreen group and its sister companies have diversified away from
container shipping in the last decade. The group is now involved in the
airline industry (EVA Air) and in hotels, and owns a container
manufacturing business and a shipyard.
