Liner trade shuffle at APL

Liner trade shuffle at APL    Global container line APL said Monday it is moving two senior executives into new roles in the company's trade management division.
   Dave Applet, formerly European regional president, has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of liner trade management. Detlev Kerber, vice president of Asia/Europe trade, will replace Appleton as the company's president in Europe. Both will start their new positions Aug. 1.
   Appleton, APL’s European president since 2002, will now manage all the carrier’s global trade lanes. Kerber will manage sales, business development and operations throughout Europe.
   “These are both critical roles for us,” said Ron Widdows, chief executive officer of NOL Group, parent company of APL. “Detlev is managing a dynamic market where the level of activity remains vibrant and Dave is working to bring consistent service and reliability to all of our trade lanes.'
