Boeing opens new research center

The aircraft manufacturer opened a research and technology center in Huntsville, Ala. on June 18.    Boeing opened an 80,000-square-foot research and technology center in Huntsville, Ala. on June 18.
   The aircraft manufacturer said in a statement the new facility is designed for the development of new technologies for current and future Boeing products and services. 
“The team works on technologies that include simulation and analytics, systems analysis, applied mathematics, chemicals, composite materials, metals and ceramics, propulsion, avionics systems and sensors, communication and sensing, cybersecurity, materials and processes, and product standards,” Boeing said.
   The facility is equipped with autoclaves that heat-treat composite materials, machines that test metallic properties, a calorimeter to test heat reactions and computers that simulate and test vehicle management systems.
   The airline currently has 10 other research and technology located in Australia; Brazil; China; Europe; India; Russia and multiple locations in the United States in Washington State, California, Mississippi and South Carolina.
