Maersk Line launches Salalah feeder amid Qatar cargo disruption

The Danish ocean carrier is now accepting bookings for Qatar cargo for transshipment via the Port of Salalah in Oman after temporarily closing them last week due to rising diplomatic tension in the Middle East.    Maersk Line has announced the start of a new feeder loop via the Port of Salalah in Oman in an effort to mitigate cargo movement issues stemming from the collapse of diplomatic relations between Qatar and six other Middle Eastern nations last week.
   The Danish ocean carrier had temporarily closed bookings for cargo from the rest of the world that transshipped over Jebel Ali to and from Qatar. 
   The new feeder service will sail every 10 days and will transship cargo to and from Qatar via Salalah, according to a statement from the company. The loop will commence June 19 out of Salalah and will arrive in Doha, Qatar on June 25.
   Booking acceptance for cargo to and from Qatar is open for all countries except the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen, in order to comply with those countries’ government guidelines, said Maersk Line.
