“K” Line, Yang Ming split pendulum service

   “K” Line and Yang Ming will separate their U.S. West Coast/Asia/Europe/Asia/U.S. West Coast joint container service, called PSW-1/AES-1, into two single-trade services, effective mid-June.
   The transpacific part of the service, PSW-1, will employ five vessels, while the Asia/Europe part, AES-1, will use eight ships, said Takafumi Kedo, manager of planning at “K” Line in Tokyo. This is one more than the combined fleet of the PSW-1/AES-1 multitrade service today.
   Kedo said the decision to split the service was made because of the risk of port delays on the U.S. West Coast. “We’re still not optimistic about the U.S. West Coast situation,” he said.
   The separated PSW-1 service will have a rotation of Ningbo, Xiamen,
Yantian, Hong Kong, Long Beach and Oakland.
