Harren & Partner to acquire German heavy lift carrier

Bremen-based shipping company Harren & Partner reached a deal with “K” Line, Tokyo to acquire SAL Heavy Lift on Thursday.    Bremen, Germany-based shipping company Harren & Partner will acquire heavy lift and project cargo carrier SAL Heavy Lift from “K” Line, Tokyo, the companys said in a statement Thursday.
   Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
   SAL specializes in the sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo. Its offshore subsidiary, SAL Offshore, creates and supplies installation solutions for the oil and gas, and renewable sectors. The company will continue to operate as a separate brand, and its headquarters will remain in Hamburg, Harren & Partner said.
   SAL has a fleet of 15 heavy lift vessels, and combined, Harren & Partner and SAL will have a fleet of 26 heavy lift vessels.
   “There won’t be any changes for SAL’s clients,” Harren & Partner Founder and Managing Director Peter Harren said. “Also, the fleet of 15 heavy lift vessels will remain with SAL.”
   With SAL and Bremen-based Combi Lift, two heavy lift companies now belong to Harren & Partner.
   A spokesperson from Harren & Partner told American Shipper SAL has around 650 employees and Combi Lift has approximately 340 employees, with figures including both employees on shore and aboard vessels.
