Concessions given to domestic shipped cargo in India

Concessions given to domestic shipped cargo in India In an effort to strengthen domestic ocean services, the Indian government announced last week that it will give concessions to cargo that uses these services.
   In a speech to India's parliament, T.R. Baalu, the country's Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, said the following concessions will be given to ships that link ports within India:
   * Exemption from filing a bill of coastal goods at load ports and bill of entry at the discharge port;
   * Dedicated terminals at various major ports in India;
   * Reductions in vessel-related charges for coastal vessels and cargo related charges for coastal cargoes at a level of 60 percent to the rate charged from foreign-going vessels.
