The new Airbus order, for eight A330-300s, will bring the Hong Kong-based carrier's fleet to 200 planes by 2012. Cathay already operates 29 A330s, and three more are scheduled for delivery in 2008.
Another 16 of the aircraft are operated by sister airline Dragonair, meaning the Cathay Pacific Group will operate the largest A330-300 fleet in the world.
Cathay currently operates a fleet of 111 and has 55 planes, including 17 freighters on firm order.
