CMA CGM raises rates, peak season fees

   The liner carrier CMA CGM said Wednesday it plans to raise rates and assess peak season surcharges on a handful of trades this month.
   The rate increases, which went into effect Oct. 1, are:
   •From Northern Europe to the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, $100 per 20-foot container and $150 per 40-foot container.
   •From West Africa to the Far East, $100 per TEU.
   •From Asia to New Zealand, $250 per TEU.
   The planned peak season surcharges, scheduled to go into effect from Oct. 22, are:
   •From the West Mediterranean to the Caribbean, Central America, Venezuela, Colombia, and the west coast of South America, 100 euros per 20-foot container and 150 euros per 40-foot container.
   •From Northern Europe and the Mediterranean to Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, and Guyana, 150 euros per TEU.
   •From the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean to the Leeward Islands, 100 euros per TEU.
