The port said that in 2004, general cargo volumes increased 13.5 percent to 15.6 million tons, of which non-containerized cargo represented 10.2 million tons.
The port also reported a large increase in container transportation by rail. In 2004, 48,486 TEUs were handled by rail, an 88 percent increase over 2003.
