UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION PICKS DESCARTES SOLUTION    The Universal Postal Union, a specialized agency of the United Nations, has contracted with the Descartes Systems Group Inc., a provider of logistics management technology, for software to support the UPU’s global postal telecommunications network.
The UPU, which serves as a forum for cooperation between postal services in 189 countries, will use Descartes’ Global Logistics Services Network application to provide information on time-critical mail and facilitate participation by UPU-member countries with varied individual business practices and technology.
   Descartes Systems Group is based in Waterloo, Ontario. The Universal Postal Union is based in Bern, Switzerland.
