Averitt adds flatbed services

Averitt adds flatbed services    Averitt Express said it continues to expand its flatbed trucking operation, which it started earlier this year.
   For several months, the Cookeville, Tenn.-based trucking company has offered flatbed services to shippers in markets such as Birmingham, Ala.; Atlanta; Cincinnati; Louisville, Ky.; and Nashville, Tenn.
   The service started with 12 flatbed trailers and has quickly expanded to include more than 50 flatbeds, with another 50 flatbeds on order. The company also plans to hire additional regional flatbed truckers in several locations.
   'We're excited about the success we've seen thus far, and were planning for even more growth in the future,' said Phil Pierce, Averitt's executive vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement.
