Shippers urged to examine ‘hidden costs’ of shipping

New report from software and services provider ADSI suggests use of regional carriers, focus on dimensional measurement accuracy, and emphasis on data entry improvement.    A new white paper from the shipping software and services provider ADSI calls on companies to ensure they are accurately measuring the dimensional weight of their shipments.
   The paper, “Seven Practical Tips to Eliminate Hidden Shipping Costs,” also encourages shippers to focus on eliminating data entry errors, including invoice and delivery information. Finally, the report suggests shippers use regional carriers to take advantage of greater negotiating leverage to secure lower rates and surcharges.
   “Many companies have significantly reduced their shipping costs by implementing a multi-carrier shipping solution that allows them to compare carrier rates and automate document production,” ADSI said. “However, you can realize even greater savings by ensuring that your shipping system is configured to preempt many common issues that result in hidden freight costs.”
