Jumbo starts building heavy-lift vessel    Rotterdam-based Jumbo Shipping has entered an agreement with the Brodosplit shipyard in Split, Croatia, to build a top segment heavy-lift vessel.
   The vessel will have a length of 152.6 meters and a beam of 27.4 meters and is equipped with two 1,100-metric-ton cranes (at 27.5 meters outreach). In tandem the cranes can lift up to 2,200 metric tons.
   'This makes it the strongest heavy lift vessel in the world,' Jumbo said in a statement. To be able to work in Arctic regions, the vessel will also meet ice class specifications.
   Estimated delivery date for the vessel is March 2013. The vessel will be operational in June 2013. Jumbo also has an option for a second vessel at the shipyard in Split.
   With the addition of this new ship, Jumbo will have a fleet of 13 heavy-lift vessels with lifting capacity in the range of 500 tons to 2,200 tons.
