OOCL widens chassis phaseout

OOCL widens chassis phaseout    OOCL said effective Jan. 1, it will no longer provide chassis for import and export shipments to/from the following locations: Buffalo, N.Y.; El Paso and Laredo, Tex.; Jacksonville and Tampa, Fla.; Harrisburg, Pa.; and Huntsville, Ala.
   All motor carriers, either working as suppliers for OOCL or OOCL customers, must provide chassis for these shipments. For motor carriers that do not own their own equipment, chassis are available at these locations from one or more of the major leasing companies on a daily use basis, OOCL said. It said motor carriers should directly bill their customers for chassis usage fees.
   Earlier this year, OOCL said it would no longer provide chassis in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
