Kuehne + Nagel acquire Slovenian forwarder

Kuehne + Nagel acquire Slovenian forwarder    Kuehne + Nagel on Thursday said it has acquired Censped, a Slovenia freight forwarder, and will take over operations starting from April 15.
   The Swiss logistics giant said the acquisition would allow it to expand its sea freight activities in the Balkans. Censped, whose headquarters are at the Slovenian Port of Koper, is a specialist in sea freight forwarding. The company had a turnover of $12 million in 2006.
   'The port of Koper links economic centers in Central and Eastern Europe with the Mediterranean countries and the Far East via the shortest transport route,' Friedrich Macher, regional director of Kuehne + Nagel southeast Europe, said in a statement. 'By joining forces with Censped, we are able to participate even stronger in the dynamic growth of the port.'
   'This takeover marks a further step in our strategy to expand our operations in the Balkan States. Ideally located, and bring value to our customers through fast and cost efficient sea freight solutions.'
   All Censped operations and employees will be integrated into the Kuehne + Nagel company in Slovenia, and Gracijan Necmeskal, former managing director of Censped, will take over responsibility for Kuehne + Nagel's national sea freight division.
   Both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
