Cargo volumes increase at Brussels Airport

Several new cargo carriers contributed to the growth in freight activity, according to a statement from Brussels Airport.    Cargo volumes at Brussels Airport in May grew 7.4 percent compared with May 2014, while many other airports in Europe reported decreases in overall cargo volumes, according to a statement from Brussels Airport.
   All cargo segments at Brussels Airport increased in volume, with the full-freighter segment showing the highest year-over-year growth at 22.4 percent.
   The airport attributed the strong growth in the cargo sector primarily to adding several new cargo carriers including the Chinese Yangtze River Express, Ethiopian Cargo and Qatar Airways. 
   In addition, KF Aerospace, previously known as Kelowna Flightcraft, recently began operations at Brussels Airport. The company commenced cargo operations May 30, 2015, including a service between Toronto’s Pearson International Airport and Brussels Airport four times a week, with a stop at Greater Moncton International Airport.
