DHL launches new direct LCL service from India to Germany

Transit times for less-than-container-load ocean freight shipments will be reduced by seven days, according to the global forwarder.    DHL Global Forwarding will commence a weekly direct less-than-container-load service for ocean freight shipments between Tuticorin, India and Hamburg, Germany.
   According to a statement from the company, the new LCL service will decrease transit times between the two points 33 days to 26 days.
   “Trade in goods between India and its number-one EU trade partner Germany is on a positive trend,” said Volker Oesau, CEO DHL Global Forwarding Middle Europe. “We’re observing growing demand from our customers for transports from India. With the new LCL service, we’re meeting this demand.”
   “In particular, companies in the textile, chemical, metal, leather and electronics sectors will benefit from the expansion of our LCL network,” Oesau added.
   The company’s LCL network currently comprises 45,000 point pair combinations and annual consolidated groupage shipments of close to two million cubic meters. Through the network, DHL offers supply chain management services, including customs procedures, pickup and consolidation services in the country of origin and deconsolidation and delivery services at the destination.
