Traxon Europe links to South African Customs

Traxon Europe links to South African Customs    Traxon Europe, an electronic communications provider to the air cargo industry, has developed an interface with South African Customs' advanced manifest reporting system.
Following the lead of the United States, Canada, India, China and the European Commission, South Africa requires advanced electronic reporting for security reasons, effective July 1. Airlines flying freight to South Africa have to declare all shipments onboard prior to arrival in South Africa by means of certain EDI messages to the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
Traxon Europe offers an electronic-data-interface link to SARS's Manifest Acquittal System (MAS). 'Based on airline supplied data Traxon Europe sends flight manifest data at the house waybill level to MAS. On request it also conveys customs status messages from SARS back to the airlines. Two airlines are already using the new TRAXON ACC South Africa solution,' the company said.
Traxon Europe's global network links more than 9,000 freight forwarder and third-party logistics provider offices with about 100 international airlines. In 2009, Traxon Europe generated a turnover of about 9.3 million euros (about $12.2 million). Around 144 million messages were transmitted that year, the company said.
