More states get mandatory e-truck manifest orders Truck drivers crossing from Canada into Vermont, New Hampshire and several land ports in North Dakota will be required to submit their advance manifests electronically beginning July 12, according to a Federal Register announcement by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
   Truck drivers must file their documentation at least one hour prior to arrival at the border. Companies and drivers that are pre-certified in the FAST program can file 30 minutes prior to arrival.
      The transition from voluntary to mandatory e-truck manifests has already begun in Washington, Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas and seven North Dakota check points. Michigan and New York crossings will only accept electronic manifests beginning in May.
      CBP will ease into enforcement by working with non-compliant drivers to educate them about the new requirements before moving to a penalty phase.
