Guam port authority receives $1.5 million in security funds

Guam port authority receives $1.5 million in security funds    The Port Authority of Guam is set to receive more than $1.4 million in federal grants to improve security at the Apra Harbor commercial port.
   The monies include $1.4 million from the fiscal 2007 Port Security Grant Program to improve port security risk management and develop a risk management/mitigation and business continuity plan.
   According to Guam officials, this plan would 'prevent, protect, respond to and recover from attacks involving improvised explosive devices and other non-conventional weapons, as well as training and exercises [for personnel].'
   An additional grant will provide the port with nearly $170,000 to bolster local emergency management capabilities in the port area.
