Ocean3 slow steams transpacific services

The member carriers of the Ocean3 Alliance have increased westbound transit times between the United States and China by one week on their Pearl River Express and AAC/Bohai loop, according to BlueWater Reporting.    The Ocean3 Alliance, which consists of ocean carriers CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC, added an additional vessel and increased the total rotation time on both its Pearl River Express and AAC/Bohai, which connect Asia with North America, according to data from ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting.
   The alliance’s Pearl River Express, which has a rotation of Fuqing, Xiamen, Nansha, Hong Kong, Yantian, Long Beach, Oakland and Fuqing, extended westbound transit times one week between Oakland and Fuqing, which now takes 25 days. As a result, the total rotation time of the service increased by one week to 49 days round and the service added a seventh vessel, which increased total capacity on the service by 11 percent to 78,717 TEUs.
   CMA CGM operates all of the vessels on the Pearl River Express, which have an average capacity of 11,245 TEUs. Hamburg Sud and its subsidiary Alianca purchase slots on the loop, along with CMA CGM subsidiaries ANL, Delmas and US Lines.
   The Ocean3 carriers also extended westbound transit times between the United States and China by one week on the alliance’s AAC/Bohai service, which has a rotation of Qingdao, Lianyungang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Los Angeles, Oakland and Qingdao. Transit times between Oakland and Qingdao have increased to 25 days, and the total rotation time has increased by one week to 49 days round. The loop also added a seventh vessel, which increased total capacity on the services by 15 percent to 69,289 TEUs.
   CSCL provides six of the vessels and CMA CGM provides the seventh vessel on the AAC/Bohai. Evergreen Line, Yang Ming, Hamburg Sud, and subsidiary Alianca, along with CMA CGM’s subsidiaries ANL, Delmas and US Lines, purchase slots on the service.
   The Ocean3 Alliance, which cooperates on major east-west trades, offers five services that operate on the transpacific trade, which deploy a combined 43,247 TEUs a week, according to BlueWater Reporting’s Capacity Report.
