CP Ships executives Juan Manuel Gonzalez, Glenn Hards and Alan Boylan have also been assigned additional roles at the new centers. These management changes follow the Dec. 31 retirement of Ray Miles as CP Ship’s chief executive officer and subsequent replacement by Hapag-Lloyd’s Adolf Adrion.
The new South Europe regional headquarters will be located in Genoa, Italy, and will cover all countries bordering the Mediterranean, the Middle East and services to Africa. The Latin America base will be in Tampa, Fla., covering Mexico and South America.
Hapag-Lloyd’s existing regional centers are Hamburg (for Europe), Singapore (for Asia and Australasia) and New York (for the United States).
Glenn Hards, CP Ships’ executive vice president operations, will now also serve as managing director of Hapag-Lloyd in South Europe. The Latin America center will be headed by Juan Manuel Gonzalez, CP Ships’ executive vice president commercial for Latin America, Asia and Australasia.
Alan Boylan, CP Ships’ executive vice president commercial for the Atlantic trades, has been handed the task of overseeing CP Ships’ integration into Hapag-Lloyd with the additional position of integration chief executive.
“We are delighted that these executives will help shape the integration process. This will ensure continuity, as well as retaining vital know-how in-house. With the two new regions, we are responding to the forecast increase in cargo volume,” said Adolf Adrion, CEO at Hapag-Lloyd and CP Ships.
