U.K., Singapore sign air services agreement The United Kingdom and Singapore have signed an aviation agreement that removes all restrictions on air services between the two countries.
   The agreement, which is due to be put into effect from March 30, will allow airlines of both sides to operate services between the other country and any third country. It is the first agreement that gives unfettered access to the London/U.S. market to a non-EU or U.S. airline. It also finalizes a new treaty that liberalizes arrangements on a wide range of further issues including code sharing, fair competition, and ground handling.
   “It is the most liberal agreement of its type, and I hope it will set the standard for other comparable agreements in the future,” said U.K. Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick
