USTR SEEKS COMMENTS ON CARIBBEAN BASIN ECONOMIC RECOVERY ACT

USTR SEEKS COMMENTS ON CARIBBEAN BASIN ECONOMIC RECOVERY ACT    The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is requesting comments from the industry regarding the performance of the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act.
   The legislation requires the administration to submit a progress report no later than Dec. 31, and every two years afterwards.
   The report should review the performance of the beneficiary countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and the British Virgin Islands.
   The USTR needs to know what effect the legislation has had on the volume and composition of trade and investment between the United States and the Caribbean Basin beneficiary countries; and whether the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act has promoted trade to the region.
