Coast Guard assisting with tanker grounded off Dominican Coast U.S. Coast Guard personnel based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, have been deployed to San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, to assist authorities there with salvage operations for the Liberian-flag gas carrier SCF Tomsk that ran aground Monday during Tropical Storm Noel.
   Dominican Republic authorities are overseeing a unified command to coordinate salvage operations between the various public and private-sector entities involved.
   Coast Guard Sector San Juan reported that the 551-foot gas carrier had already offloaded some of its liquefied petroleum gas at the Coastal Petroleum Dominca facility in San Pedro do Macoris on Monday before it was grounded. But the vessel is still carrying 1.5 million gallons of LPG, 330,000 gallons of fuel oil and 33,000 gallons of diesel, the Coast Guard said. None of the cargo has leaked since the grounding incident.
