The vessel arrived in Washington’s Port of Tacoma Aug. 28. The “North Star” is the second vessel of a two-vessel order. The first ship, “Midnight Sun,” joined the TOTE fleet in April. Both ships were constructed by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Co., based in San Diego, Calif.
TOTE’s first U.S.-flag vessel, the “Great Land,” which was built in 1975, will now serve Matson Navigation Co. in the U.S. West Coast/Hawaiian trade.
