Throughput for the year is up 13.8 percent to 3.7 million TEUs. The port attributed the high volumes to increased transshipment and economic recovery in China, Russia and the United States.
The port is aiming to handle a record 15 million TEUs in 2011. Busan is the world's fifth-busiest container port.
