American, BA cargo divisions raising fuel surcharges    British Airways World Cargo and American Airlines Cargo will from next month increase their fuel surcharges to compensate for rising fuel prices.
   Effective May 5, American Airlines Cargo is increasing the fuel surcharge from 50 cents per kilogram to 55 cents/kg for most U.S.-origin international shipments, and from 20 cents per pound to 22 cents/pound for U.S. domestic shipments.
   BA World Cargo is also raising its fuel surcharge to 55 cents/kg from May 11.
   “The market remains under intense pressure from climbing fuel costs, which directly impact the costs of providing air freight. It is regrettable but necessary for our fuel surcharge to be increased at this time in line with our fuel index,” said Chris Bosworth, BA World Cargo’s general manager commercial development.
