Mitsui O.S.K. Lines took deliver on Wednesday of the very large crude carrier Phoenix Jamnagar, which was built at Japan Marine United Corporation Ariake Works.
The Malacca Max Type ship will be placed under the control of Phoenix Tankers Pte. Ltd., a 100 percent subsidiary of MOL based in Singapore, and primarily will be employed for crude oil transportation to India under a contract between Phoenix and India’s Reliance Industries Limited.
Phoenix Jamnagar is 339.5 meters long with a 60-meter beam, a max draft of 21.09 meters, a gross ton of 160,857 tons and a deadweight of 311,798 tons. It has a service speed of 15.5 knots.
Reliance, which had a profit of $5.7 billion for the year ending on March 31, according to MOL, has activities spanning hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and digital services.
