Joint acquisition of DCT Gdańsk complete

The purchase by PSA International, Polish Development Fund and IFM Investors was first announced in March and reportedly was worth more than 1 billion euros.

   Global port operator group PSA International Ptd. Ltd. (PSA), the Polish Development Fund and IFM Investors announced Tuesday they had completed the transaction to jointly acquire Poland’s largest containership terminal, Deepwater Container Terminal Gdańsk.
   The acquisition, which was first announced in March, was worth more than 1 billion euros, The Wall Street Journal reported at the time.
   DCT Gdańsk, which opened in 2007, is the only terminal in the Baltic that can serve ultra large container vessels with a capacity of up to 23,000 TEUs, the joint statement said. The terminal handled 1.9 million TEUs in 2018.
   DCT Gdańsk, which is undergoing expansion to be completed in 2019 and 2020, has a quay length of 1,306 meters and a maximum depth of 17 meters.
   “The consortium partners have the intention to further strengthen the terminal’s position and to look into additional expansion needs as and when relevant,” the joint release said.
