11 shipping companies cut terminal handling costs in China

The National Development and Reform Commission said 11 shipping companies will cut terminal handling costs in China, according to the Shanghai Daily.    The National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC) said 11 shipping companies will cut terminal handling costs in China, the Shanghai Daily reported.
   Domestic trading companies are reported to save around $509 million annually by lower terminal handling costs.
   Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), COSCO Group, and other major shipping lines will initiate cuts of up to $20 per TEU.
   While each shipping company determines the terminal handling costs based on loading and unloading charges, Chinese trading companies wrote to the NDRC complaining about high and non-transparent surcharges, resulting in Beijing demanding cost compliance from shippers.
