60 tons of domestic beef mistakenly shipped to Korea A shipping mix up led to 66 tons of U.S. beef intended for sale in the United States to be delivered to the Port of Busan in South Korea, the Korean newspaper Chosun reported.
   The beef cargo — 15.2 tons of bone-in beef from Cargill and 51.2 tons from Tyson Foods — was mislabeled as export material by U.S. meat exporters and was subsequently returned to the United States. The two boxes arrived May 25-26.
   Under an agreement between the United States and Korea, only boneless meat from cattle younger than 30 months can be imported.
   South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has asked Washington to explain how export quarantine certificates were issued for the beef and to step up its efforts to ensure safe beef exports, according to the report. Imports from Cargill and Tyson Foods have been suspended until such measures are taken.
