A.P. Moller Singapore gets first 9,000-TEU ship
The first in a series of 9,000-TEU containerships was delivered on Sept. 19 to A.P. Moller Singapore.
The 110,295-dwt Maersk Altair was built by Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries and is 323 meters (1,059 feet) in length with a beam of 45.6 meters (149.6 feet) and a depth of 22.8 meters (74.8 feet).
The vessel is fitted with a Wartsila NSD 12RT-FLEX96C engine producing 68,640 BHP, able to propel the ship forwards with speeds up to 25.5 knots.
