A4A taps Shaver for cargo post

Airlines for America, the trade association formerly known as the Air Transport Association, has named Elizabeth Shaver as director of cargo services, effective in January. Shaver joins the organization from Delta Air Lines, where she recently served as manager of customs, facilitation and corporate security. She’s also had management positions directing cargo revenue, cargo operations, compliance, flight control and operations control center support.
“Liz brings a strong background in aviation, cargo, customs, and legal and compliance, including international experience,” Tom Hendricks, senior vice president of safety, security and operations for Airlines for America (A4A), said in a statement. “She is an air cargo and customs subject-matter expert, a licensed attorney and customs broker and an FAA-licensed dispatcher, who brings a unique understanding of airlines and cargo operations to our membership, and will continue to ensure we are facilitating safe and efficient cargo transport nationally and internationally.”
The hiring is the latest move by new president Nicholas Calio and the board to transform an organization that was operating the same way as 30 years ago despite massive industry changes and was not considered a visible lobbying presence in Washington.
