The two new cranes, which are being assembled, are scheduled to be commissioned in September and October and will be used for handling containers. Doug Morrison, ABP port director, Southampton, said the crane orders are part of a $6 million investment in new facilities to support a 25-year agreement with Huelin-Renouf, providers of shipping and freight forwarding services to and from the Channel Islands.
The new order brings the Port of Southampton’s Gottwald crane fleet to four. The D'sseldorf, Germany-based crane manufacturer will extend its foothold in the United Kingdom to 75 mobile harbor cranes.
Gottwald is a subsidiary of Demag Cranes AG.
