ABS moves European survey office to Greece

ABS moves European survey office to Greece    Ship classification society ABS said Tuesday it is moving its survey department headquarters for Europe and the Middle East from London to Piraeus, Greece.
   'From an operational standpoint, Greece is more centrally located within the Europe and Middle East division,' said ABS President and Chief Operating Officer Christopher J. Wiernicki.
   Meanwhile, Demetri Stroubakis will become vice president of ABS's eastern European region, headquartered at the Piraeus. He replaces Dimitri Houliarakis, who was recently promoted to divisional vice president and assistant chief surveyor for the society's entire European, Middle East and African operations. The ABS European Eastern Region comprises Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Malta, the Black Sea countries and the Balkan region including Croatia.
