ACI’s carbon program goes global

Latin American and Caribbean airports are now covered under the emissions-reduction initiative.    Airports Council International has extended its Airport Carbon Accreditation program to Latin American and the Caribbean, the last ACI region not covered by the initiative.
   According to ACI, the program, which is administered independently, “assesses and recognizes airports’ efforts to measure, manage and reduce their CO2 emissions.”
   The ACI initiative now covers 111 airports worldwide.
    “This milestone clearly demonstrates airports’ dedication to sustainable growth and that we are taking proactive and robust actions to achieve aviation’s commitment made in September at the United Nations Climate Summit,” said Angela Gittens, Director General of ACI World.
