Actiw lands deal for automated container loading system

   Actiw Oy has signed a contract for the supply of 14 automated container loading systems to Tecnimont SpA, an engineering, procurement and construction subsidiary of Italy’s Maire Tecnimont Group, for delivery to an end customer in the petrochemical industry in the United Arab Emirates.
   The Finnish company said the system is the first of its kind where product pallets coming from palletizing lines are fully automatically transferred and loaded into standard sea containers.
   The new loading technology is based on the “ACTIW LoadPlate” loading system that it said is in use in dozens of sites. By adding standard conveyor technology to LoadPlate, Actiw said it has developed a solution to move product pallets directly from production into standard sea containers.

   Actiw said the systems increase operational efficiency, decrease product damage and improve safety of loading.
   Loads are formed on conveyors that receive pallets from production, pack them side by side and feed them to the loading plate equipped with freely rotating rollers. After a full
container load is ready and the container is docked to the LoadPlate, the full load is transferred into the container and the loading plate is pulled out. The company says this takes place in a few minutes, and even up to 30 tons of cargo is loaded and ready for dispatch.
