AFRICAN TRADE DEVELOPMENT ACT TAKES AFFECT

AFRICAN TRADE DEVELOPMENT ACT TAKES AFFECT    A final ruling has been issued by U.S. Customs for the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which extends duty-free treatment under the Generalized System of Preferences for sub-Saharan African countries designated by the president.
   The amended act, which became effective Oct. 1, covers non-textile articles normally excluded from GSP duty-free treatment that are not import-sensitive; and the entry of specific textile and apparel articles free of duty and free of any quantitative limits.
