AIMU offering marine insurance seminar    The problems of containers overboard and risk accumulation caused by the growing size of ships and ports are two issues that will be explored during an American Institute of Marine Underwriters seminar next month.
   AIMU’s Marine Insurance Day seminar will be held Sept. 28 at St. John’s University, 101 Murray St. in Manhattan.
   Keynote speakers are Richard J. Decker, chairman, American Institute of Marine Underwriters, and Deirdre H. Littlefield, president, International Union of Marine Insurance.
   Presentations include:
   ' “Bad and Getting Worse.” The containers overboard problem will be analyzed by John Noble, development director of BMT Salvage Ltd., London.
   ' “Vessel and Port Accumulation.” Tony Cowie from Swiss Re will give an in-depth examination of this marine insurance underwriting consideration.
   ' “What is General Average and How Does it Work?” Jonathan S. Spencer will examine a general average loss in terms that everyone can understand.
   ' “How to Read a Bill of Lading.” Anthony Pruzinsky from Hill Rivkins & Hayden, will discuss often overlooked but important functions of a bill of lading.
   ' “Liability Regimes for Carriage of Goods by Road.” Stuart Jordon, director from Craig/IS Ltd, London, will compare U.S. and European laws and discuss the best protections to obtain successful recoveries and subrogation.
