AIR CARGO AMERICAS CONGRESS SHIFTS FOCUS TO SECURITY

The VI Air Cargo Americas Congress, to be held Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Miami, will change its focus from logistics and business opportunities in the Americas to air cargo security in light of the nationwide emergency created by the tragic events of Sept. 11.

“President Bush has correctly stated that we are now at war,” said Bill Spohrer, chairman of the congress, ” and the international cargo industry must urgently respond to this challenge.”

“It’s no longer business as usual,” he added. “Our national security, the future of the international trade and the well being of our friends and allies depend on maintaining free and unrestricted flow of air cargo throughout the world.”

Charlotte Gallogly, president of the World Trade Center Miami, sponsor of the meeting, said leading experts in cargo security, law enforcement, antiterrorism and insurance, as well as federal aviation and security agencies, will provide their expertise and guidance to the industry.
